Nigerian actor Yemi Solade has expressed his disappointment at the organisers of an award scheme demanding payment for a plaque.

Solade’s refusal to comply has led the organisers to withdraw the award meant for him.

Taking to his social media page to share a screenshot of the chat he had with the organisers, Solade stated that he does not belong to a class of award plaque buyers.

He also accused the event organisers of extortion.

Solade, expressing his displeasure, wrote, “I refused to pay for the award plaque." This is the outcome.”

The leaked chat of the organizers said, “Good morning, sir. Trust you had a good night's rest. I did revert your response regarding sponsorship to the management.

“However, I think it doesn’t sit well with them, as they also disclosed how much the plaques cost.

“Hence, you can please attend, but the award plaque may not be presented in order to save cost. Thank you for your kind understanding, sir.”
