Nigerian singer Balogun Afolabi Oluwaloseyi widely known as Seyi Vibez has said that, during his early career, he was duped into joining Wizkid's record label, Starboy Entertainment.

The singer recalled looking up a phone number and information on how to join Starboy Entertainment on Google.

Seyi Vibez claimed that when he called the number, he was asked to pay N10,000 for the registration form, which he did, but that he was then banned.

Seyi Vibez made this disclosure in a recent interview with Lagos' Wazobia FM.

He cautioned aspiring musicians against signing with any online record labels.

He said, “I remember when I was 13 years old, I wanted to sign to Starboy, I went to Google and typed, ‘How to register to Starboy record label.’ I saw one number and I called the number, the guy who picked it up said I should pay for form N10,000.

“That was how I sold my phone and paid the guy N10,000 but after the payment he blocked me. He told me that he was Wizkid’s recruitment officer. I said I would come for the screening, I would perform and Wizkid would judge my performance. So I fell for it.”

Seyi Vibez started his music career in 2019. He became popular with his breakout hit "Chance" from his second studio album Billion Dollar Baby, which peaked at number 7 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart and debuted at No. 19 on the UK Afrobeats singles chart, is what made him famous.
