Rema allegedly paid $3m for performance at Indian billionaire's son’s wedding

Nigerian afrobeats singer Rema was allegedly paid $3 million, which is equivalent to N4,719,749,541, for his performance at an Indian billionaire's son's wedding.

The singer travelled to India to perform at the marriage ceremony of Anant Ambani, the son of Mukesh Ambani, and Radhika Merchant, the daughter of pharmaceutical tycoons Viren and Shaila Merchant.

The "Calm Down" singer shared a video of himself on Instagram on Thursday night, in which he can be seen wearing all black and making his way towards a private chartered plane. He put an emoji of an Indian tricolour and added "Azaman" from his recently released sophomore album, "He Is," as background music.

According to reports, Rema demanded $3 million to sing his worldwide popular song "Calm Down" at the function.

Also, Canadian musician Justin Bieber received $10 million for his performance at the event.

Pop sensation Rihanna also gave an unknown performance at the occasion.

On July 12, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant will exchange vows at Mumbai's Jio World Centre in Bandra Kurla Center (BKC).

The family has been throwing extravagant parties since March, and this four-day wedding extravaganza in Mumbai is the last one.

Among the notable guests at the wedding are Kim Kardashian, former prime ministers of the UK Boris Johnson and Tony Blair, former US Secretary of State John Kerry, former prime minister of Sweden Carl Bildt, and former prime minister of Canada Stephen Harper.
