Following the alleged arrest of an X user by Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham, several angry Nigerians have threatened to boycott Netflix if the actress' movies were not removed from the streaming app.
Thousands of letters demanding the immediate removal of Toyin Abraham's films from Netflix have been sent by Nigerians in protest of the detention of a well-known influencer who had criticized her for supporting President Tinubu.
Toyin Abraham announced her support for Tinubu during the 2023 election campaign, telling her followers that she was confident the president would deliver on his promises to fix some of the country's issues through his "Renewed Hope" action plans.
However, according to some citizens, the nation's economy has collapsed since the president took office on May 29, 2023.
Following this, some people attacked Toyin Abraham and her family on social media.
Emails and tweets from some Nigerians to Netflix calling for the removal of Toyin's movies have surfaced, sparking conversations on social media.
