Some Nigerians on social media have criticized Ghanaians after a Ghanaian chef named Chef Smith falsely claimed to hold a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
Chef Smith, whose real name is Ebenezer Smith, was arrested and detained for fabricating a Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
During a press conference on Tuesday, July 2, Chef Smith announced on social media that he had set a new world record for the longest cook-a-thon, supposedly lasting 820 hours and 25 minutes between February 1, 2024, and March 6, 2024.
In an interview with the BBC, Alina Polianskaya, the Public Relations Executive for Guinness World Records, refuted Chef Smith's claims, stating, "No, this is not true. He does not hold the GWR title, and that is not our certificate."
As a result, many Nigerians have been mocking Ghanaians on social media.
It is well-known that Nigerians and Ghanaians have a love-hate relationship that confuses other countries on the continent. These two nations often engage in banter on social media, with debates over who makes the best jollof rice.
