An immigration source at the Nigerian-Benin Republic border has detailed how crossdresser Idris Okuneye often known as Bobrisky was arrested during a passport check at the Seme border on Monday, October 21, 2024.

The source disclosed to Premium Times that the crossdresser was taken into custody at midnight and held till the next morning before being moved to the Lagos zone of the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS) in Ikeja.

He explained, “He was arrested at midnight, detained until this morning, and is currently being moved to the Lagos zone of the NIS in Ikeja. He handed his passport to someone to stamp for him, but the officer noticed his name immediately and requested that he come down from the vehicle.”

The Nigerian Correctional Service, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and a House of Representatives Committee are all involved in an ongoing investigation into Bobrisky's earlier detention.

The main focus of the case is the bribery allegation; prior reports indicated that Bobrisky had paid bribes to avoid receiving the appropriate prison sentence.

The event at the Seme border has made Bobrisky's legal issues even more complex as the investigation goes on because it has been reported that Bobrisky was attempting to leave the country to escape the ongoing investigation.
