Stand-up comedian Seyi Law has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s administration, stating that if Tinubu can’t transform Nigeria, no politician can.
Despite facing criticism and losing patronage from some Nigerians, Seyi Law said he is committed to his stance and confidence in Tinubu’s leadership abilities.
In an interview on Tejubabyface show, Seyi Law said that enduring the current challenges under Tinubu’s leadership is preferable to temporary comforts that might jeopardise Nigeria’s future.
He advocates for constructive criticism and engagement rather than blind animosity towards the government.
The comedian also compares Tinubu’s performance favorably to other politicians, such as Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, stating that they wouldn’t have performed better if they had won the presidency.
He said in part: “Some Nigerians hate me for supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. They don’t even support my shows anymore. You might not support me today but I will want to be 70 and 80 and I see my children enjoying the benefits of the sacrifices I have made today.
“I tell you wholeheartedly, not with any sentiment, if Bola Ahmed Tinubu cannot redirect the ship of Nigeria, no politician currently can do it. None. Not Atiku, not Peter Obi. Not with what I know about all of them”.
Seyi Law’s support for Tinubu is driven by his hope to see the benefits of the president’s reforms in the future, particularly for his children. He stated that he would be much happier when his children enjoy the fruits of Tinubu’s policies, even if it means facing criticism in the present.
