Popular on-air personality, Daddy Freeze, has recounted the circumstances that led to his relationship with embattled Nigerian fraudster and socialite, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

In a new video circulating on social media, Daddy Freeze noted that the convicted fraudster stood by him when no one else wanted to associate with him.

This revelation follows his earlier statement that he was never friends with Hushpuppi.

“Hushpuppi never gave me money, not even $1. But he gave me friendship when nobody wanted to be my friend because they believed I was the devil,” he said.

“The first time I met Hushpuppi was when I was picked along with some influencers to go to Dubai. I had already started the movement then (#FreeTheSheeple), but the influencers didn’t like me. At that time, the church I attended for 10 years had rejected me. Everybody rejected me.

“Then, Hushpuppi sent me a DM saying, ‘Where are you? Come over.’

“So we hung out with some friends, talked, took pictures, and he posted them on Snapchat. Why wouldn’t I be friends with someone who was there for me? How am I supposed to be angry with him? I might have suspected that his money wasn’t legit, but as Davido said in one of his songs, ‘Dey for who dey for you.’”

Hushpuppi is currently serving a prison sentence at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. He was sentenced to over 11 years (135 months) in federal prison.

Before his arrest, Daddy Freeze had in 2019 shared videos of his visit to Hushpuppi’s Dubai Palazzo Versace home on his YouTube channel.

Netizens criticized Daddy Freeze for associating with a convicted criminal and for seemingly promoting Hushpuppi’s extravagant lifestyle.

Hushpuppi's scheduled release date is August 6, 2029.
