'He informed me first' - Seun Kuti says VeryDarkman spoke to him about the viral video before its release

Controversial singer Seun Kuti revealed that he was informed about the expose released by activist Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, before it went public on social media.

Social media was abuzz when VeryDarkMan posted a viral video on his Instagram page in which Bobrisky alleged that he had offered ₦15 million to officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to have his money laundering charges dropped.

Bobrisky, who had been facing charges related to currency abuse and money laundering, claimed that he had offered the sum to unnamed EFCC officers in exchange for dropping the charges.

The conversation surrounding this incident has dominated both social and traditional media. Seun Kuti, who is an ally of VeryDarkMan, stated in a viral video that he had given the activist permission to publish the video content.

“You people are late to the party. I was the first person VDM informed about the story, and I gave him the go-ahead to expose Bobrisky,” said singer Seun Kuti.

In response, EFCC Chairman Ola Olukoyede ordered an investigation and summoned both Bobrisky and Otse to assist in the inquiry at the EFCC's Lagos Directorate.

In a statement, EFCC's Head of Media and Publicity, Dele Oyewale, confirmed the investigation, saying, "The EFCC chairman has ordered an immediate investigation into the alleged bribery... The Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse to make themselves available to assist investigators in uncovering the alleged bribery."

The commission has also summoned Bobrisky and VeryDarkMan to appear at its Lagos Directorate to assist officials with the investigation.
