Ghanaian chef, Ebenezer Smith has disclosed that Hilda Baci inspired him to participate in the longest cooking marathon by an individual.

He made this known in an interview in Ghana-based TV channel, GHOne TV after it emerged that he falsified his certificates.

Chef Smith as he is popularly called falsified his Guinness World Record certificate that sought to certify him as the new record holder. In a press conference in Accra late last week, he declared himself the new recorded having cooked for 802 hours and 25 minutes.

When quizzed on how he managed to execute his false attempt, he said he was aware of the GWR regulations because the organization puts out all the information such as the break time and guidelines after an applicant submits their application. He also disclosed that he had not applied to GWR and that he had no application.

The interviewer asked: So what motivated you to participate in the cook-a-thon?

Chef Smith said: Apparently, after Hilda Back took the challenge, as a young man growing up I’ve worked for a couple of years in the hospitality industry and I’ve always wanted the platform to showcase the good craft that I have in me because I’ve worked at a couple of places, both hotels and restaurants and I feel like nothing was working out. I wanted a platform where I can get something permanent to do with regards to my profession.”

Recall that Hilda Baci officially broke the record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual with a cooking period of 93 hours and 11 minutes.

The 26-year-old Nigerian chef began on Thursday, May 11, 2023, to Monday, May 15, 2023, preparing almost 100 pots of meals.

Hilda Baci tried to beat the record with 100 hours, but she took an extra minute for one of her rest breaks early in the endeavor, which took about seven hours away from her ultimate total.

Following Hilda Baci's dethronement, Irish chef Alan Fisher was officially confirmed as the new record holder by the GWR on both its official website and X page.
