Popular Ghanaian actor turned politician, John Dumelo, has won the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency election.

Dumelo, who contested on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated the incumbent, Lydia Alhassan of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

After a fiercely contested election, Dumelo was declared the winner of the parliamentary election held during the country’s general elections on Saturday, December 7, 2024.

The actor polled 40,561 votes, while his closest contender, Lydia Alhassan, garnered 27,377.

His fans and supporters have been celebrating his victory across Africa.

In 2020, Dumelo lost the Ayawaso constituency seat to Alhassan.
