Aero Contractors pay fine imposed by NCAA

Aero Contractors have paid the sanction fee imposed on them by the Consumer Protection Department of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority, NCAA.

According to the Director, Public affairs of the NCAA, Michael Achimugu, the payment is significant because it is the first time in the history of the NCAA that airlines have been sanctioned for consumer protection-related infractions.

He.exoressed delight that the department has finally recovered cost for the NCAA for the first time in its history.

"A small figure, but its significance in the scheme of things is huge," he said on X.

"This is huge for us. It validates the amazing work that our team has put into this department and the enormous trust that the DGCA has invested in us.

"As more airlines pay their sanction fees, let me state that the essence of sanctions is not to punish. Sanctions are indicative of flight disruptions and designed to enforce compliance to a point where flight disruptions are brought down to the barest minimum."

Achimugu commended Aero Contractors for their efforts toward fixing the inherent issues and complying with the regulations.

He also saluted theIr ongoing moves to clear the entire backlog of refunds and compensations.

"While congratulating us, I have urged our staff to do more this year. To work harder, to become better at our job - protecting the rights of all stakeholders and enforcing compliance with Part 19 of the NCAA Regulations 2023.

"Thanks to Capt. Chris Najomo for the trust and encouragement. He is our pillar indeed," he said.
