The airline said, "We wish to inform the public that one of our aircraft experienced an incident upon landing in Kano yesterday. Our crew handled the situation professionally, ensuring the safe evacuation of all passengers and crew members. There were no injuries, and the aircraft has since been removed from the runway as of 04:28.
"As a result, the Kano runway will remain temporarily closed for inspection and clearance, which may lead to some delays in flight operations today, Wednesday, 29/01/2025. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience as we await further updates on the runway reopening.
"Our Max Air engineering team continues to demonstrate excellence in handling such situations. We will keep you informed on the status of flight schedules."
Tuesday's incident happened a few days after a major disaster was averted when a US-bound airplane developed a technical fault mid-flight and was forced to return to the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The airplane was bound for Washington Dulles but made a u-turn a few hours into flight with 256 passengers onboard.
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), through its Spokesperson, Obiageli Orah, stated that 38 passengers and crew members sustained varying degrees of injuries in the incident.
