CBN penalizes 9 banks N1.35bn for failing to dispense cash via ATMs

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disclosed on Tuesday, January 14, 2025 that it has fined nine banks N1.35 billion for not making the naira notes available through automated teller machines (ATMs), during the festive season.

The apex bank stated that the fines were imposed on the banks to show that they have absolutely no tolerance for cash flow disruptions.

In line with CBN's cash disruption guidelines, each bank was fined 150 million for non-compliance.

List of the affected banks:

1. Fidelity Bank Plc

2. First Bank Plc

3. Keystone Bank Plc

4. Union Bank Plc

5. Globus Bank Plc

6. Providus Bank Plc

7. Zenith Bank Plc

8. United Bank for Africa Plc

9. Sterling Bank Plc.
