The management of the Port Harcourt refinery has disclosed that the plant began full-scale operation after successful rehabilitation.

The company’s Managing Director, Ibrahim Onoja, made this known to journalists after a facility tour of the refinery on Sunday.

Mr Onoja said that the refinery had undergone a lot of upgrades, adding that a lot of the equipment were replaced.

According to him, the refinery has started truckout of petroleum products, which includes premium motor spirit, kerosene, and diesel.

He said: “The refining plant has undergone extensive upgrades to enhance efficiency and reliability, which has also impacted production capacity.

“We replaced most of the equipment, including pump installation and cables.

“The plant is running, and we are trucking out our products.”

This comes barely six days after the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited announced that crude oil processing has commenced at Port Harcourt Refinery.

However, the commencement of Port Harcourt refinery had sparked controversies on the viability of the plant.

There were claims that the refinery trucked out old stocks.

However, NNPCL had dismissed the claims.
