The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has completed phase 1 of its rehabilitation efforts on the Port Harcourt refinery.
This announcement was made by Group Managing Director of the NNPC, Mele Kyari at the Nigeria Petroleum Summit.
Kyari said that the oil firm has advanced to stage 2 in rehabilitating the Port Harcourt refinery while working assiduously on Phase 1 revamp of the Warri and Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Co. Ltd.

He promised to raise crude oil production to 3 million barrels per day as well as achieve the 40bn bbl national oil reserve target.
"We are, more than ever before, committed to working with stakeholders to increase our crude oil production from 2.3 million bbl per day to 3 million bbl per day," he said.
"We're equally committed to achieving the 40bn bbl national oil reserve target. Our recent successes in inland basin exploration in the Gongola basin & the amendment of Deep Offshore Act will improve fiscal stability & investor confidence," he added.

The NNPC boss revealed that the firm was strengthening the Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System with an extra unit of gas. He noted that the connection of gas from the East to West is almost completed while the extension of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline is to start soonest.
"NNPC is adding 1.1bcf additional capacity to Escravos-Lagos Pipeline System thru the ELPS II Project; connection of gas from East-West thru OB3 is nearing completion & extension of the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) is about to commence," he stated.
