Wema Bank's communication team must be clapping for itself now.
You know why? It's tweet for today's celebration of International Women's day literally set the world on fire. Especially Nigerian Twitter.
Many users were quite unhappy with its message as they felt it failed to corroborate today's theme which hovers around equality.
"Today we celebrate the mothers who aren't raising patriarchal sons, the women bosses supporting female subordinates and the ladies whose voices we can no longer ignore," the message read.
Happy International Women's Day from all of us at Wema Bank.

Everyone has an opinion
Please enlighten me
What exactly is wrong with this message here? #InternationalWomensDay
That's the problem with this generation, they are easily triggered. No comprehensive reasoning.

Lmao! Tell me about it, we're celebrating people bcos they have breasts and a vagina or we're celebrating them for their struggles, history and the great potentials that they bring to the table.

Because when it's fathers day, we'll remember the ones that molest children.
Seeing the stir they caused, the lender retraced its steps and offered an apology.
"It seems that our #IWD message has been taken to be insensitive to some of our dear women. But our true intention is simply a call for all women to do better in supporting each other, correct the men who don't see the evils of patriarchy, keep our voices high enough as we slay and let all know that the call for gender equality is a collective fight for us all.
Once again, happy international women's day," it responded in a rejoinder.
...keep our voices high enough as we slay and let all know that the call for gender equality is a collective fight for us all.
