Thousands of Nigerians have taken to social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter to lament about the high cost of living in the country.

An X user, Amaka, shared an image of sliced yams that have been put on sale in the market for 500 naira. The yams were sliced up because a lot of Nigerians are unable to afford the full tuber of yam.

Reacting to the post, some Nigerians cried that the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu government has failed citizens beyond expectations, as the economic hardship is extremely difficult to endure.
