Nigeria striker Akor Adams has revealed that retired Super Eagles star John Utaka has been helpful to him since he arrived at Montpellier, Soccernet reports.
Adams joined former Ligue 1 champions Montpellier from Lillestrom during the international break. Former Nigeria striker Utaka, who helped the club win the Ligue 1 in 2012, participated in the 23-year-old’s unveiling.
The retired Super Eagles striker is currently a youth coach at Montpellier, and Adams has revealed that he has a good rapport with the former Nigeria striker since he joined the club.
“He’s a great guy. For me, he’s a legend, he’s a very top man, he has helped me a lot,” Adams said per PV Sport after Montpellier’s goalless draw against Nice on Friday.
“Many times after a game, he gives me comments on my performance because he was also a striker and he has a lot of experience. For me, to have him in the club is a positive.”
Adams has been a revelation since he joined Montpellier. He currently has seven goals in 12 Ligue 1 games, and he has shown no signs of slowing down.
If Adams continues delivering the goals for Montpellier, he could get a Super Eagles call-up soon.
