Victor Osimhen has dedicated Galatasaray's impressive victory against Fenerbahce in the quarterfinals of the Turkish Cup to the fans of the club.
The 26-year-old scored both goals as the Yellow and Reds triumphed 2-1 against their bitterest rivals in the Intercontinental Derby at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium on Wednesday, April 3.
Osimhen gave Galatasaray the lead early in the 10th minute before adding the second from the spot in the 37th minute.
Speaking in a post-match reaction, Osimhen stated that the victory was to compensate the fans for their defeat to Besiktas in the Super Lig last weekend.
“We know that Galatasaray – Fenerbahçe matches are intense and difficult matches. It is necessary to focus from the first minute to the ninetieth minute. We were actually optimistic when we came, the Nigerian international said.
“Unfortunately, we made our fans unhappy last week. We had to play well here to compensate for them. Now we will look at the upcoming matches and progress match by match,” he added.
The former Lille striker has registered a stunning 28 goals and provided five assists since joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan last September.
