2026 World Cup Qualifiers: Six Super Eagles stars face suspension threat

Super Eagles Super Eagles

Six Super Eagles players are just one booking away from missing Nigeria's next match in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

Midfield duo Wilfred Ndidi and Alex Iwobi, along with Calvin Bassey, Tolu Arokodare, Bright Osayi-Samuel, and Sadiq Umar, have all received yellow cards during the qualifying series.

Ndidi, Iwobi, and Arokodare were booked during the Super Eagles' 2-0 victory against Rwanda in Kigali last Friday.

Meanwhile, Bassey, Osayi-Samuel, and Umar picked up their yellow cards in the earlier stages of the qualifiers.

According to FIFA regulations: “If a person receives a caution in two separate matches of the same FIFA competition, they are automatically suspended from the next match in that competition. Such suspensions must be served before any other.”

Nigeria will host Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo for their sixth match in the qualifiers on Tuesday, March 25.
