The stark differences between the Super Eagles' press conferences in Kigali and Uyo have sparked reactions on social media.
An X user with the handle @PrideOfRivers shared a picture of the two press conferences held ahead of Nigeria's World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, respectively.
Both press conferences were attended by head coach Eric Chelle and team captain William Troost-Ekong.
While the first press conference in Kigali showcased a modern, well-organized setup with proper lighting, a professional backdrop, and modern microphones, the presser held in Uyo painted a completely different picture.
The second image in the collage revealed a poorly lit press room with a backdrop banner loosely held by ropes, raising concerns about the poor state of Nigeria's football infrastructure on such a significant international stage as the World Cup qualifiers.
Head coach Eric Chelle and Troost-Ekong praised Rwanda for the quality of their infrastructure following last Friday's World Cup qualifier, where Victor Osimhen's brace secured a crucial 2-0 victory for the three-time African champions.
After the game, Chelle praised Rwanda for its beautiful and serene environment, stating that the East African country is even more stunning than France, where he was born.
Troost-Ekong added that the Amahoro National Stadium is the most beautiful stadium he has visited in Africa.
Let’s see how netizens are reacting to this development which is steadily gaining traction on social media.
An X user @DavymartinCE0 tweeted, "Wait....na rope dem use hold the banner?? 🙄🙄"
Another user @IykeJo2 wrote, "It’s endemic. They couldn’t even tie the ropes properly. Banner has to sag in the middle."
@phlexyl said, "It’s like they swear for Nigeria not to be standard"
@MdeenOlawale added, "Aside from corruption, In his country, we act as if we don't know everything is now modern, we just want to be stagnant so badly 🤦😩😭"
Check out other reactions below:
@SayNoToDrxgs: "Wallahi. Has me wondering what the Zim coach was praising. Also has me deeply thinking, “what do they got back home” 😂😂😂
@bafeez_: "You know how many places the money allocated for such projects will touch before it reaches its destination? Don't play with Nigeria"
@LordMoe9ja: "I won't be surprised if that banner cost them millions of naira."
