Benin Republic head coach Gernot Rohr has disclosed that he watched Victor Osimhen's brace against Rwanda last Friday, March 21.
The Galatasaray striker scored a superb brace as the Super Eagles defeated the Amavubi 2-0 at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
The victory moved the three-time African champions from fifth position to fourth in Group C, restoring the team's hope of securing a World Cup ticket.
Speaking ahead of Nigeria's matchday six encounter against Zimbabwe, Rohr, who is a former coach of the Super Eagles, showered praise on Victor Osimhen's goal-scoring prowess while also warning Nigeria about the threat posed by Zimbabwe.
“I saw the goals from Victor Osimhen, and they were wonderful. Congratulations, and I think Nigeria is on the right path to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
“It will be a very interesting game on Tuesday, but I also think Zimbabwe has a very good team with a good coach (Michael Nees) from Germany.
“The Warriors played well against us in Durban, and they have some wonderful players from England and Saudi Arabia.
“It may not be that easy for the Super Eagles,” he added.
Eric Chelle's side will face the Warriors of Zimbabwe at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Tuesday, March 25.
