Former Liverpool star Jermaine Pennant has explained why Victor Osimhen would be a great signing for Chelsea.
Osimhen has been linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, with Chelsea and Manchester United as frontrunners for his signature.
The 26-year-old has been in remarkable form since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last September.
The former African Footballer of the Year has registered 26 goals and five assists in 30 appearances across all competitions for the Yellow and Reds.
In an interaction with talkSPORT, Pennant said Osimhen is undoubtedly the attacker Chelsea needs to change their fortunes in front of goal.
“Osimhen would change things for Chelsea without a shadow of a doubt.
“He knows how to put the ball in the back of the net. His numbers are flying in; his numbers are great.”
He added, “I’m going to look back at Jackson and how many chances he gets per game, but the conversion rate isn’t great.
“He can have three or four clear-cut chances and still fail to put any of them away.
“I think someone like Osimhen, who is prolific in front of goal, would boost Chelsea or boost any team.”
Osimhen is currently at the camp of the Super Eagles ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe on Tuesday, March 25.
The former Lille striker scored both goals for Nigeria as they defeated Rwanda 2-0 in their last encounter on Friday, March 21.
