Atalanta star Ademola Lookman has shared his thoughts on being crowned African Footballer of the Year.
The 27-year-old received the prestigious honor last December following an outstanding campaign with Atalanta, where his heroics guided the Serie A club to their first-ever Europa League title.
Lookman succeeded his Super Eagles compatriot Victor Osimhen, who had won the award the previous year.
Reflecting on his achievement as the reigning African Footballer of the Year, the former Leicester City loanee described it as both a blessing and an honor.
“It’s a blessing, it’s a pleasure, and most definitely an honor to be among the people here who have won the award, like my teammate last year, Osimhen, my brother,” the Atalanta winger told NFF TV.
“To be crowned with this is a blessing. It’s something I hold with great honor and great respect.”
Lookman is expected to feature when the Super Eagles take on Rwanda in the World Cup qualifiers on Friday, March 21, at the Stade Amahoro in Kigali.
