Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has disclosed that head coach Eric Chelle has provided the team with several tactical instructions ahead of their crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
Nigeria will face the Amavubi in the Matchday 5 encounter at the Stade Amahoro National Stadium on Friday, March 21.
After earning just three points from four qualifying games, the three-time African champions are under immense pressure to secure a victory in order to keep their hopes of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup alive.
Speaking ahead of the game, Troost-Ekong shared that Chelle, who held his first training session with the team last Tuesday, has laid out a clear plan for the squad.
“Coach Eric Chelle has given us a lot of instructions. For us, it’s about ensuring we understand what he expects from us on Friday and working towards those objectives,” Troost-Ekong stated.
“These are the key moments where you have to rise to the occasion, but none of us are afraid of that. As I’ve said before, this pressure is a privilege for all of us.”
The Super Eagles have failed to secure a win in their last two meetings with Rwanda.
