Nigerian international Cyriel Dessers has expressed his excitement over Glasgow Rangers' remarkable victory away at Fenerbahce in the first leg of the Europa League round of 16 clash.

Rangers stunned José Mourinho's side with a 3-1 victory at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium, Istanbul on Thursday, March 6.

Dessers opened the scoring early in the 5th minute before Ghanaian international Alexander Djiku equalized at the half-hour mark.

Vaclav Černý restored Rangers' lead in the 42nd minute and sealed the victory with nine minutes left to play.

Reacting to the victory in a post-match interview, Dessers expressed his excitement to have scored at the iconic Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.

“Overall, I think we can be very happy with this evening. We handled them well. It will not be easy to handle them again next week, but you see that we can hurt any team on the counterattack,” the former Feyenoord forward told UEFA.com..

“It's a very nice feeling to score in a stadium like this. For the first goal, I just saw the ball drop between the defender and the goalkeeper, and that’s one of those moments as a striker when you have to be sharp.”

José Mourinho and his side will be looking to overturn the tie in the second leg at Ibrox Stadium on Thursday, March 14.
