Former British boxer Amir Khan has said Anthony Joshua was right to turn down an immediate return fight with Daniel Dubois.
Joshua suffered a devastating knockout defeat against Dubois in the fifth round at the Wembley Stadium last September.
Expected to enter into a rematch, the British-Nigeria has, however, avoided such conversation concerning the IBF Champion.
Reacting, Khan exclusively told Prime Casino that Joshua's decision to avoid a rematch is brilliant and smart.
“I don’t think he should have taken that re-match. It’s the best choice he’s made,” Khan said.
He also commented on how Dubois exploited Joshua’s fighting style in their previous encounter.
He urged Joshua to seek easier opponents that guarantee significant financial rewards even though he would one day consider a rematch with Dubois.
“I think he made the right choice by not taking it now but in the future it’s still a fight. And even if he never fights him again, he tried, it happened, we’re all prize fighters and at this time he can make money elsewhere with an easier opponent,” he said.
“You always have that one opponent who is always going to be the bogeyman, who is always going to beat the style that AJ has, and I think that is Dubois. He was punch perfect when I saw that fight.”
While Joshua avoids Dubois, the IBF Champion is rumoured to have set his sights on in a rematch with Oleksandr Usyk for an undisputed title shot.
