Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has confirmed Filip Jorgensen as the club's first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Robert Sanchez.

Sanchez made five big mistakes leading to goals in the current Premier League campaign, with his latest error coming in the Blues' 3-1 loss away at Manchester City.

The former Brighton shot-stopper has come under intense criticism from the Blues faithful, who believe the Spanish goalkeeper is not up to the task.

Sanchez was replaced in goal by Jorgensen during Chelsea's 2-1 victory against West Ham United last week, and Maresca has now confirmed the Denmark under-21 goalkeeper as the club's number one.

“I said that the Filip solution was also to give Robert some time to recover mentally and physically,” the Italian tactician said ahead of Chelsea's Premier League clash against Brighton on Friday.

“But the idea is not to change the keeper game by game.

“In the last Premier League game, we had Filip, and in the FA Cup, it was Robert. Our keeper at the moment is Filip.

“I spoke with Robert a few days before West Ham, where I took the decision to play Filip. I never spoke again with Robert. Filip, exactly the same. They know the situation. This is the situation now, and then we will see.”
