Bayer Leverkusen head coach Xabi Alonso has disclosed that Victor Boniface will be returning to the team's training sessions immediately following his botched move to Al Nassr.

The 24-year-old was on the cusp of joining the Saudi Pro League outfit after reaching an agreement with the Bundesliga title holders.

The Super Eagles star had agreed to personal terms with the Cristiano Ronaldo-led team in a deal worth €15 million net per season in wages.

Boniface had also completed his medicals with the club ahead of the big-money move.

However, Al Nassr withdrew from the deal to pursue Aston Villa's Jhon Duran, who is said to be the club's primary target.

Speaking on Boniface's transfer saga, Alonso expressed his delight that the striker will be staying at the club and will be returning to training on Thursday.

“He will train again tomorrow. I believe he is staying with us. So I have to say that I am satisfied, I am happy. He is comfortable here, so I don’t believe that this is a big stress for him. He is comfortable here,” Alonso said after Leverkusen’s 2-0 win over Sparta Prague in the UEFA Champions League.

Boniface netted eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions before going on the sidelines due to injury.
