Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye risks a five-year ban if found guilty of the betting allegations leveled against him.

The 25-year-old is currently under investigation for placing a bet on his yellow card offense against Lazio last season.

The Super Eagles shot-stopper is being investigated by the Udine Prosecutor’s Office for a flow of anomalous bets during Lazio’s home clash with Udinese, as per Dailypost.

Okoye was shown a yellow card for time-wasting in the 64th minute of the game, which ended 2-1 at the Stadio Olimpico in favour of Udinese.

The former Watford goalkeeper has become the latest player to be involved in a betting scandal.

Ivan Toney, Sandro Tonali, Nicolo Fagioli, Kieran Trippier, Lucas Paquetta, and Daniel Sturridge are all players who have either directly or indirectly been involved in betting scandals.

Footballers are prohibited from staking bets for themselves or getting other people like family members and friends to place bets on them.
