Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Ibrahim Gusau has revealed that Eric Chelle's first task will be to provide an advisory role for the Super Eagles CHAN team.

Chelle was unveiled at the Media and Conference Hall of the MKO Abiola Stadium on Monday, January 13, following his appointment last week by the NFF.

The 47-year-old will take over from Augustine Eguavoen, who has been in charge of the team on an interim basis.

There have been reports that the Malian will be in charge of the home-based Eagles ahead of the CHAN tournament. Clarifying these reports, Gusau disclosed that Chelle will only oversee the team's activities.

“Eric Chelle will be departing Abuja for Ikenne Remo in Ogun State to join the camp of the home-based Eagles,” Gusau told reporters.

“He will take on a supervisory role as he gets familiar with the players, working closely with the coaches to oversee the team’s activities.”
