Arsenal legend Ian Wright has urged the club to consider signing Nigerian international Ademola Lookman when the January transfer window opens.

The former Gunners striker believes the recently crowned African Footballer of the Year, along with Eintracht Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush, would be perfect January signings for Mikel Arteta's side.

“You look at them [Lookman and Marmoush]… the way we play and what we need, both of them would be perfect. They would be brilliant,” Wright said.

Wright also congratulated Lookman on winning the 2024 African Footballer of the Year award.

“African Player of the Year, congratulations! He looked amazing. I saw a little documentary on him and it was so uplifting, his journey, so congratulations to him.”

Lookman has been in remarkable form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing five assists in 20 appearances across all competitions for Gian Piero Gasperini's side.

Lookman has a current market value of €55m, nearly twice his value prior to his outstanding performance in the Europa League final, where he bagged a historic hat-trick against Bayer Leverkusen.
