Former Super Eagles head coach, Jose Peseiro, has expressed confidence in Nigerian international Samuel Chukwueze and Portuguese star Rafael Leao to excel under AC Milan boss Paulo Fonseca.

Chukwueze joined the Rossoneri from Spanish La Liga side Villarreal last summer but struggled to secure regular playing time under former manager Stefano Pioli.

Often, the Super Eagles winger was deployed as a second option behind Christian Pulisic.

However, the 25-year-old has enjoyed more playing time this season under Fonseca, who took over from Pioli at the end of last season.

Peseiro, who has managed both Chukwueze and Leao, believes Fonseca will help the duo develop into better players.

"Two excellent players. I trained one (Chukwueze) in the Nigerian national team, and the other (Rafael Leao) I would have loved to have at Sporting," Peseiro told Sport Italia.

"Extraordinary players, with great quality and potential to grow even further. And I believe that Paulo Fonseca will help them become even better."
