Former Super Eagles head coach José Peseiro has disclosed why he is without a job after parting ways with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Portuguese tactician stepped down from his role following the conclusion of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in February.

Despite guiding Nigeria to the final against host Ivory Coast, the 64-year-old couldn’t reach an agreement with the NFF over a possible contract extension.

Kaizer Chiefs, the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, and Zamalek are among the teams José Peseiro has been linked to after leaving Nigeria. However, the former Sporting Lisbon manager has stated that he is waiting for the right offer.

“I honestly don’t see myself coaching another team in Portugal, even though there are projects that I’m excited about,” Peseiro told Portuguese news outlet Ojogo.

“So far, it hasn’t happened. I’ve had offers to return to Portugal, once again, but I haven’t. It’s not because I don’t like the country or our football.”
