Former Nigerian international John Mikel Obi has explained the reason behind Chelsea’s impressive form in recent matches.

The Blues, under Enzo Maresca, have changed the narrative from last season, where they struggled to maintain consistent form.

Chelsea are unbeaten in their last nine matches and are currently on a four-game winning streak.

Despite losing their Premier League opening game against title holders Manchester City, Maresca’s side have moved to fourth position on the league table, with just two points behind Liverpool in first place.

Sharing his thoughts on the Blues’ form in the latest edition of his Obione podcast show, former Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi attributed the team’s recent performance to Enzo Maresca’s ability to change the team’s attitude.

"Maresca has changed the attitude of this football team. Now, without the ball, I see players working incredibly hard—Sancho, Madueke, Jackson, and Cole Palmer are all running and chasing to win the ball back.

“That is the attitude I want to see, and I’m happy to witness that spirit returning to the club.”
