Nigerian international Victor Osimhen was arguably the hottest topic in the recently closed summer transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who was expected to leave Napoli in the summer, left the club in a dramatic fashion after falling out with the former Serie A champions.

The reigning African Footballer of the Year was expelled from the club’s first team and also stripped of his number nine shirt, which was handed to new signing Romelu Lukaku.

Osimhen’s deteriorating relationship with Napoli was fueled by his failed transfer to either Chelsea or Al Ahli, who were the two clubs remaining in the race for his signature on transfer deadline day.

Other potential suitors, including Arsenal, Manchester United, and Paris Saint-Germain, had all withdrawn their interest due to the player’s enormous €130 million release clause.

In a surprise move, the Super Eagle managed to engineer a move away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, joining Turkish Super Lig champions Galatasaray on a season-long loan.

Osimhen made his debut for his new side against Rizespor in the Super Lig last weekend, registering an assist in Galatasaray’s 5-0 win.

In a latest development, Italian outlet Di Marzio has reported that Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who currently serves as AC Milan Senior Advisor, attempted to sign Osimhen for the Rossoneri but the deal didn’t materialize.

When asked if he considered the option of bringing Victor Osimhen to the San Siro, Zlatan responded with a smile, saying, “I remain silent on this,” confirming his interest in the former Lille striker.

It remains to be seen where Victor Osimhen will end up when the transfer window opens in January, thanks to a break clause inserted in his contract.
