Former Super Eagles head coach Finidi George has shed some light on what unfolded between him and Victor Osimhen in the wake of Osimhen’s social media outburst against him.

Osimhen took to social media to attack the former international over claims that he faked an injury to miss Nigeria’s World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic in June, a report which turned out to be false and misleading.

In an exclusive interview with NigeriaInfo, the Rivers United coach disclosed that the Super Eagles striker is yet to apologize to him for the rant.

He mentioned that Osimhen sent him a message which was later deleted after he confronted him upon seeing the video.

"I sent him a message privately. What did you hear that you’re going hard like this? I said this is not fair. You can ask people that were there.

“I sent him a message privately, which he didn’t respond to. It’s like he sent me a message and deleted it. So, I couldn’t read what he sent. I didn’t know if he apologized or not. I couldn’t read his message before he deleted it.”

Sharing his insights on the incident, the former Enyimba boss described himself as a peaceful man who will not create any form of conflict between himself and a player.

Talking about his time as a Super Eagles player, Finidi noted that never at any point in his career did he have a confrontation with his coach.

“For me, people are different, people have different characters. I wouldn’t have done that if late Keshi had said something about me. I wouldn’t have spoken. I wouldn’t have talked back to Christian Chukwu; these were my coaches. If I read something a coach said in the media, I wouldn’t have replied.”

Many football stakeholders, including former internationals, coaches, and fans, have urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to take disciplinary action against Osimhen, but it appears the calls have fallen on deaf ears.
