Some Nigerian players and celebrities have taken to social media to offer their unwavering support for Victor Osimhen amid the uncertainties surrounding his future following his failed transfer move.
The 25-year-old has fallen out with Napoli after his anticipated move to Chelsea and Al Ahli collapsed on transfer deadline day, leading to his exclusion from the first team squad.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has also been stripped off his no. 9 jersey, which has been handed to new signing Romelu Lukaku.
With Osimhen club career hanging in a balance, some of his Super Eagles teammates, including Odion Ighalo and Stanley Nwabali, alongside some other Nigerian celebrities have supported the striker in this difficult time.
Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo, who led the solidarity campaign wrote in a post on X wrote:
"No human being is perfect and we have all made mistakes in life, but seeing comments about this young man from his own country people makes me really sad, without even knowing what happened, I spoke to him and I can feel the pain in his voice, the way he's been treated, this young man play with heart and pains for his country, Hmmm it's well, he will definitely be back stronger, we learn every day in life, Happy New Month to y'allš¤šš¾"
Super Falcons striker Asisat Oshoala, while responding to a tweet said, āIf you hear wetin your club offer Victor Osimhen even you sef go swear for them.ā
Super Eagles goalkeeper Nwabali also added: "All great Legends and all Hall of Fame fighters have their storylines. Good bad and worst kind of views from people who have no idea what the real story is and what it takes. I would define a myth as a story that has survived. VO9š¦ ā¤ļø"
