Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen remains a Napoli player following his failed transfer move to Chelsea on transfer deadline day.
The 25-year-old who was expected to leave the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium this summer despite signing a new deal with Napoli last December couldn't negotiate a deal with his suitors.
Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli pulled out of the deal to sign the Super Eagles striker after Napoli demanded an extra €5 million in addition to the already agreed transfer fee.
Chelsea's transfer delegation to Italy also walked off the deal after Osimhen turned down the Blues €4 million offer in wages.
Osimhen has reportedly fallen out with Napoli, leading to his banishment from the first team.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year has also been stripped off his number 9. shirt which the club has given to new signing Romelu Lukaku.
In a new development, it has emerged that the Super Eagles striker could be sent on a four-month loan spell at a club competing in the Europa League.
This was disclosed by Nigerian broadcast journalist, Onyebuchi Onokala, also known as Buchi Laba, who believes the move could happen in the coming days.
In a post on X, Buchi Laba wrote, “Excl; Victor Osimhen might be on the Move.
– Loan for 4months (Might be a full season).
– They play in the Europa league.
– Personal terms agreed.
– They’re currently in Negotiations with Napoli. Napoli welcome talks.
– Everything goes well, and this deal happens IN 3 DAYS!”
The European transfer window remains open in the Netherlands, Turkey, Russia, Greece and Switzerland, as per Dailypost.
