AS Monaco's new signing, George Ilenikhena, has expressed interest in representing Nigeria at the international level.
The 17-year-old joined the Ligue 1 side this summer in a deal believed to be around the region of €17 million.
Born in Lagos, the young talented forward moved to France at age three and remains eligible to feature for both Nigeria and France at the international level.
According to OwnGoalNigeria, the former Royal Antwerp star is keenly interested in playing for the country of his birth, as disclosed by the player's representative in an interview.
“George won’t say no to the Super Eagles. He is a Nigerian and proud to be one. But that isn’t on his mind currently, as he just moved to a new club in France.”
Ilenikhena had an impressive season with Royal Antwerp last term, the teen sensation bagged 14 goals in 50 appearances across all competitions for the club.
Notable among his goals was a late winner against Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League, where Antwerp secured a remarkable 3-2 over the Spanish giants.
