Young, talented Nigerian-born striker Chido Obi-Martin has announced his departure from Arsenal despite discussions with Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.

The 16-year-old revealed the news in a post on Instagram on Monday, July 29.

In a brief message, the young sensation wrote: “Arsenal, thank you.”

Obi-Martin scored five hat-tricks in the final nine matches of the Under-18 Premier League season last year. His impressive tally included seven goals in Arsenal's 9-0 win over Norwich and five goals in the young Gunners' 8-1 victory over West Ham.

The teen sensation leaves the Gunners following the expiration of his contract with the club. Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta reportedly tried to convince the player to stay.

Obi-Martin is rumored to be linked with moves to Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
