Former Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr has revealed the reason behind Nigeria's recent struggles, citing the introduction of new players who are yet to settle into the team.
Despite reaching the 2023 AFCON final, Nigeria has only managed one win in four matches since the tournament.
Rohr, who led Benin to a 2-1 victory over Nigeria in their last game, believes the Super Eagles' poor form is due to the integration of new players.
"The team is struggling, but they have quality players who can decide games in their favor," Rohr said.
"However, they haven't been able to bring in new players to create a style and identity. They're still relying on players I worked with two years ago, and many good young players have come in and struggled."
Despite their recent struggles, Rohr remains confident that Nigeria will qualify from their AFCON qualifier group, which includes Benin, Libya, and Rwanda. "They're the favorites to make it out of the group," he said.
