Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick has condemned Victor Osimhen's social media outburst against Finidi George, describing it as "a moment of madness."

Osimhen lashed out at the former Super Eagles coach on social media over false claims that Finidi George questioned his commitment to the national team.

The Napoli striker alleged that the newly appointed Rivers United coach claimed he had faked an injury to miss the FIFA World Cup qualifier matches against South Africa and Benin Republic.

Speaking to Arise TV, Pinnick expressed his disappointment at Osimhen's actions, stating that the player showed remorse when they spoke on phone.

"It was unfortunate, and I told him so. He spoke to me with remorse, and I advised him to channel that remorse to the appropriate quarters."

Pinnick revealed that Osimhen has always been humble and maintained a good relationship with him since his discovery during his first term as NFF president in 2015.

"I don't know what went wrong; it was just a moment of madness. That's not the Osimhen I know. I believe he will apologize at the appropriate time if he hasn't done so already."
