President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's decision to reinstate the former national anthem, "Nigeria We Hail Thee", has sparked controversy on social media.
The new anthem, which replaces the beloved 'Arise O Compatriots' that Nigerians have sung with pride since 1978, has been met with criticism for being a misplaced priority amidst the country's pressing issues.
However, the new anthem featured prominently at William Troost-Ekong's charity event last weekend.
The event brought together an impressive lineup of football greats, including Ahmed Musa, Brown Ideye, Wilfred Ndidi, and Nwankwo Kanu, as well as celebrities like Sabinus, Falz, Odumodublvck, Pocolee and Ebuka.
In a lighthearted moment, Sabinus, Odumodublvck and other stars were captured on camera struggling to sing the new anthem, with some muttering words while others remained silent.
The event was a resounding success, with the foundation aiming to make a positive impact on the lives of Nigerian children.
