Africa has produced quite a number of iconic players over the years, but former Nigeria captain John Obi-Mikel believes Didier Drogba and George Weah top the list.

The ex-Chelsea midfielder picked the former Ivory Coast captain and the 1995 Ballon d’Or winner as the best players to have emanated from the continent in a recent interview.

According to Chelsea, Drogba, who was voted twice as the Africa Footballer of the Year, won four Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and, in the most dramatic and glorious of circumstances, the Champions League with the Blues.

Whereas, Weah won the African Footballer of the Year three times and also became the first African to win the Ballon d'Or and be named FIFA World Player of the Year, leading him to be nicknamed "King George", Wikipedia reports.

In 2018, Drogba, who played alongside Mikel at Chelsea, retired from professional football at the age of 40, while Weah was elected President of Liberia in 2017.
