Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Idah Peterside has noted that the Sports Ministry needs to be left in the hands of former players who understand how to bring in success to the various sports discipline.

Peterside, who recently moved back to Nigeria after 25 years made this known in a =n interview on Sunrise Daily on Channels TV.

Speaking on a number of issues including the recent feat achieved by the Flying Eagles at the World Cup in Argentina, Peterside stressed that sports management must be left in the hands of ex-athletes.

He said: "Our last Sports Minister, Dare, give it to him but I think he was more on the economic side but we need a typical sports person. We need ex sports person, ex-player, someone that has played the game and has been involved. And we have a whole lot of educated players in every sport."

"I think they should be brought in. Our sports must be run by a sportsperson. The Minister of Sports must be a sports person."

On the qualification of the Flying Eagles to the quarter-finals of the competition, he advised "team handlers to keep football agents far from the team to avoid distractions".
