Why NFF may not appoint top foreign coach to replace Finidi George — Julius Aghahowa reveals

Despite filling the void left by former Super Eagles coach José Peseiro with the appointment of Finidi George in late April, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will have rethink that decision again following the sudden resignation of former Enyimba coach.

The 53-year-old resigned from his role after the NFF's decision to hire a foreign technical adviser following the disappointing results in the World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic.

Reports indicate that the NFF will consider hiring a foreign coach to take over from Finidi George with names like Marc Brys, Antonio Conceicao and Didier Six springing up as likely candidates.

However, former Super Eagles striker Julius Aghahowa has waded into the conversation explaining why the NFF may not consider hiring a foreign coach for the Super Eagles.

"Right now, we should be looking inward. First of all, we don’t have the money to pay foreign coaches. I remember how they struggled to pay in the past," he told Brila.

Aghahowa advised the soccer house to consider looking inward in their bid to replace Finidi George.

"We should look inward and allow our homegrown coaches to lead the national team," he added.
