When Amokachi scored twice after 'substituting himself' on in Everton vs Tottenham FA Cup clash in 1995

Former Nigerian striker Daniel Amokachi's two-year stint at Premier League club Everton is marked by one infamous moment in the FA Cup.

Nicknamed "The Bull," Amokachi joined Everton in 1994 from Belgian outfit Club Brugge following his impressive performance in the 1994 FIFA World Cup in the United States.

The then-Super Eagles striker joined the Toffees for a reported fee of £3 million, a transfer that was sanctioned by Everton manager Mike Walker.

Amokachi went on to win the FA Cup with Everton in 1995 after the Toffees beat Alex Ferguson's Manchester United 1-0 in the final.

The interesting story of that historic triumph was what unfolded in the semifinal against Tottenham Hotspur, where Amokachi substituted himself into the game and scored twice.

The Nigerian striker replaced the injured Paul Rideout, who was receiving treatment on the sidelines, without his manager Joe Royle's approval.

The manager had only instructed Amokachi to warm up in preparation for a possible substitution.

Amokachi scored 13 goals in 49 appearances for Everton before joining Besiktas in 1996.
