Chelsea forward Noni Madueke has recounted his experiences of visiting Nigeria as a young person.
Born in Greater London to Nigerian parents, Madueke joined Crystal Palace at the age of nine and spent three years at the club.
He subsequently joined Tottenham Hotspur, where he captained the club's U-16 side, before joining PSV Eindhoven in June on a three-year deal.
Madueke joined Chelsea on a seven-and-a-half-year contract in the winter of 2023 in a deal worth €33 million.
Speaking on his episode of My Journey on Chelsea TV, the 22-year-old shared his experience of visiting Nigeria and how his parents met in the UK.
“My parents both came to England when they were young, did school here and met here. They have good values and good morals. They try to be good people. They definitely imprinted that on me,” he said.
“I loved going to Nigeria when I was younger. We would fly to Lagos and then get a boat to Banana Island or Lekki Phase 1. We would just go there and chill. It was cool,” he added.
Madueke was eligible to play for the Super Eagles despite featuring for England at the U-16, U-17, U-18, and U-21 levels.
He made his debut for the Three Lions last September, coming on as a substitute for Bukayo Saka in England's 2-0 win over Finland.
